Title of Symposium:
Intelligent Built Environment: Frontiers in AI-driven Design and Additive Construction
Symposium Description:
The convergence of artificial intelligence, digital technologies, and advanced manufacturing is reshaping how the built environment is designed, constructed, and operated. Centred on intelligent design, additive manufacturing and construction, this symposium addresses frontier research and innovative applications for the built environment. It explores the integration of AI with architecture, engineering, and construction across the building life cycle.
Topics include, but are not limited to, generative AI, computational design and AI-assisted material development; performance-driven design optimisation; building information modelling and digital twins; robotic construction and additive manufacturing; embodied intelligence and human–robot collaboration; multimodal sensing, process monitoring, quality assurance, and intelligent construction management; and intelligent building operation, maintenance, and adaptive control.
The symposium aims to bring together researchers and industry professionals from architecture, civil engineering, material science, computer science, robotics, and advanced manufacturing to exchange research findings, methods, and application case studies. It provides a forum for discussing the opportunities and challenges of intelligent technologies in enhancing design quality, construction efficiency, environmental performance, and occupant experience, while encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration toward a sustainable, resilient, and human-centred built environment.
